Every journey begins long before people notice it. Gradox was no different. Its foundations were already being formed in Nigeria. Jeremiah grew up surrounded by lessons about faith, discipline, purpose and generosity.
His mother, Oluyemi Adebimpe Akanbi, was a gifted singer and storyteller who taught her children that hardship should never be allowed to determine who they became. His father believed that experience was one of life’s greatest teachers.
One shaped his values. The other pushed him to test those values in the world.
The belief that experience prepares you for life
Jeremiah’s father held a simple but demanding philosophy: you do not wait until you feel completely ready to enter the real world. Readiness is built through experience.
That belief took Jeremiah from Nigeria to Dubai, where he worked twelve-hour shifts daily as a security guard. Far from home and outside the creative life he imagined for himself, the role demanded discipline, humility and responsibility.
The quiet lessons of standing still
Standing for hours left him with time to think about the difference between earning a living and building a meaningful life. The work gave him security, but it also helped him recognise that security and purpose are not always the same thing.
Dubai wasn't where Jeremiah discovered who he was. It was where life tested whether he truly believed it.
The loss that changed the meaning of success
After returning from Dubai and continuing his education in Poland, Jeremiah carried a quiet dream. He wanted success not for status or recognition, but so he could one day give back to his mother, Oluyemi Adebimpe Akanbi, for every sacrifice she had made so he could have opportunities she never did.
Shortly after his University graduation, she passed away.
Success had never been about status or recognition. It was about one day giving back to his mother. The person he had worked so hard to make proud would never get to witness the future he had imagined for her. She never had the opportunity to see the man he would become or the brand he would later build.
But the values she had spent a lifetime placing within him did not disappear with her.
One year later, Gradox was founded.
Gradox wasn't founded because Jeremiah lost his mother.
Gradox was founded because the values she gave him outlived her, and because the dream of honouring her found a different way to live on.
From legacy to Gradox

Gradox grew from more than one chapter. Nigeria provided the foundation. Dubai built discipline. Loss deepened Jeremiah's understanding of purpose. Poland became the place where those experiences were transformed into Gradox.
The brand’s messages: Hope, Ambition, Resilience and Faith. These were not selected to fill a mission statement. They emerged from a life in which each had already been required.
Some brands begin with a sketch. Gradox began with a legacy.
Measuring success differently
Asked which founder has influenced him most, Jeremiah doesn't point to the biggest names in fashion. He points to Clint Ogbenna, founder of Corteiz, admiring not commercial success alone but the ability to build belief, inspire a community, and prove that fashion can shape culture.
That's the standard GRADOX is building toward. Rather than measuring success only in garments sold, the goal is to be remembered for the people the brand encourages, through fashion, storytelling, and the simple reminder that circumstances don't determine your future.
